MORE INFO ABOUT AREA
Rufina-Valdrano is a small area in Tuscany, only 20 kilometers East of Florence. It is part of a greater Chianti region, even though it lies on the opposite side of the city. Known for its wilderness and ridge crests, this region is a perfect soil for the production of wine and it can be considered among Chianti DOCG.
The region is characterized by long-lasting, dry summers with warm days and slightly cooler nights that favor the production of fruity, aromatic wine, which is held in a great esteem and is said to have its own personality.
Its historical importance is confirmed by the 18th century Edict of the Grand Duke of Tuscany. This document classifies this wine of this area as one of the “best four“ Tuscan wines.
Despite being the smallest area of Chianti (covering only around 12.500 hectares, it offers its visitors a variety of landscapes, including beautiful churches (such as Santo Stefano, Santa Maria at Felgano, Pieve of San Bartolomeo at Pomino, Santa Maria del Carmine ai Fossi) and breathtaking castles and villas, one of which is Villa di Poggio Reale.
For all those who enjoy art, wine, gastronomy and wild nature of Apennine slopes, Rufina and Valdrano is a perfect holiday spot.
